Though there are not many dog friendly places on Okinawa to take Rusty to play, we have found a temporary playground and permanent friends for him!! At least once every weekend we take Rusty to the baseball field at the middle school on base. Though it is not exactly "legal," it's the only fenced in area we can find. He loves to run through the outfield and practice his vertical.
A few weeks ago, we asked our neighbors, Andrea and Chris, to bring their dogs and Rusty's best friends to play at the park too! Barley, their 2 year-old yellow lab, and Rusty like to play in their backyard during the day, but at the park they love the wide open spaces!! Even Abby, their 6 year-old chocolate lab, had a great time in the sun too!
Hopefully one of these days we will find a legal spot for Rusty, Barley, and Abby to play but until then or until baseball season starts, they will have to run the bases.
